Lesson #1: Commitment to righteous and holy living is essential to finding and fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives!
In Luke 1, the bible indicated that Mary and Joseph were young people who were “committed” to godly values and living righteously. Little wonder God found them worthy of parenting Jesus while on earth – an unfathomably divine experience! God has plans for this world, and He is still looking for those who are worthy and willing to be vessels of His divine plans. The question is, are you ready and prepared for God’s use?
Commitment to righteousness paves the way to experiencing God; this experiential knowledge of God is the foundation of developing faith. With experience comes confidence, and confidence aids trust. But it all beings with Righteousness!
Lesson #2: Anyone who is in Christ has favour with God
We read in Luke 1:28-30 that Mary was highly favoured by the Lord. Just like Mary was favoured to carry and birth the Son of God – Jesus. In the same way, believers are favoured to carry Jesus, figuratively, in “the womb of our spirit”! Therefore, we must be conscious that we are “Jesus carriers.” The awareness of this truth positions us to manifest and express the life and power of Jesus in all areas of life.
Lesson #3: It takes the Holy Spirit!
Luke 1:34-35, Mary asked the Angel, “how shall this be?” The angel responded, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee.” Fulfilling divine assignments require the involvement of the Holy Spirit. The accomplishment of God’s work in us and through us rests with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 3:17-19 shows us that the power of the Holy Spirit makes our hearts habitable for Christ and establishes the fullness of Christ in us. He forms the image of Christ in us and teaches us how to apply His values to our lives daily – thus revealing Christ through us. Be reminded that the Holy Spirit needs your cooperation to achieve this!
Lesson #4: Mary and Joseph Accepted God’s Will
Matthew 1:24 – “Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife.” Against cultural and social norms, Joseph accepted the Angels’ instruction in a dream, and Mary said, “be unto me according to word.” Which is more important to you – your aspiration and ambition or God’s will? Sometimes, it could be daunting to drop our conviction and say YES, Lord – JOYFULLY – to His will. Even for the most spiritual person, it can be challenging. However, the strength of will to say yes to God’s plan comes from the fact that He knows what’s best for us, and everything He does is driven by Hsi love for us. Therefore, we can be sure that God’s plan always leads to the “expected ends.”
Lesson #5: Mary and Joseph believed in God and followed His path in their lives
Today, the whole world celebrates the result of their faith in and obedience to God.
Do you believe in God? Do you believe His words? Life is set in the direction of belief! Believing in Christ sets life in the direction of God’s will and aligns with God’s purpose. Do you desire to make a significant impact in life? Are you searching for how to give your life meaning? Jesus can give your life more meaning and value beyond imagination! Jesus was born to give us new life and a new direction. Anyone who believes in Him will be empowered to live the new life in Christ Jesus, which sets us on the path to fulfilment.
